I believe we should close and secure our
southern border
immediately if not sooner. The foot-dragging in Washington on this
issue
is unbelievable.
The term "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" is code
for
amnesty which is totally unacceptable. I would tentatively be in favor
of
a workable "Guest Worker" program, but the buzzword here is "workable." I
have not seen a viable plan of any type to bring in seasonal workers
from Mexico
and then make absolutely certain they return to Mexico. Guest workers
should not
be allowed to bring in non-working family members. Further, any children
born to
these guest workers while in America should not be granted citizenship.
Regarding the millions of illegals here already, we should make sure
that all of
them, at the very least, have "Tamper-Proof" identification to insure
they do
not receive any benefits such as access to our public education system,
attendance in our colleges, welfare, food stamps, Social Security,
etc. Companies should also have an electronic system to verify the
citizenship of any workers they hire or be heavily fined.
We do not
have
the resources to round up millions of illegal aliens and send them home,
but we
can make their continued presence here very uncomfortable and very
unprofitable which would encourage them to return to their own
Country. On the other hand, the "Coyotes" who take advantage of these
illegals, many of whom are decent, hard-working people, are the epitome
of
evil and are no better than the Slave Traders of old. They should
be rounded up and strenuously prosecuted.
