Who is Mike Horner?

Mike Horner is a
retired Air Force Lt. Colonel. He graduated from the Air Force
Academy and completed his Masters degree in Forensic Science at
George Washington University. He also completed a Fellowship in
Forensic Medicine at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. In
the Air Force, Mike was a Special Agent with the Air Force Office of
Special Investigations (AFOSI). Mike commanded three AFOSI units
including the largest AFOSI detachment in the world at Clark Air Base
in the Philippines. During this assignment, Mike served as the
Forensic Consultant for the Pacific region for two years. Mike was
also the Commander of the Security Police Squadron at Shaw AFB, SC
with 200 personnel in his unit. Mike received three Meritorious
Service Medals and one Commendation Medal for management excellence
during his Air Force career. While stationed in Washington, DC Mike
directed all global AFOSI drug operations for two years and, during
this period, rewrote all of the drug manuals and regulations.
Following
retirement, Mike entered the financial field as an Advisor with Paine
Webber for many years and then joined Wachovia Bank as a Vice
President for Estate Planning. While at Wachovia, Mike worked with
many clients in developing Estate Planning documents to minimize
taxes using such techniques as Charitable Remainder Trusts,
Charitable Lead Trusts, Marital Trusts, etc.
Mike was recently a
Lead Instructor for three years at the Federal Law Enforcement
Training Center in Brunswick, Georgia. Courses taught included Crime
Scene Investigation, Homicide Investigation, Sex Crimes, Narcotics,
Fingerprints, Digital Photography, Questioned Documents, etc.
Mike is currently
conducting background investigations for the FBI and the Defense
Intelligence Agency. Mike currently lives in Savannah, Georgia with
his wife, Susan, and has three children and one grandchild.
