BALANCING
THE BUDGET:
We will never,
let me repeat that, NEVER, be able to balance our budget unless the
multi-trillion dollar unfunded liabilities of Social Security and Medicare
are eliminated.
No politician has dared to take on these
two big gorillas in the room fearing they will not get re-elected.
To George Bush's credit, he did take on Social Security only to be demagogued
to death by the Democrats who did not have a plan of their own.
The
problem is that our government has borrowed (i.e. stolen) all of the
money paid in to Social Security and Medicare and then used that money
to fund other pet projects.
Social Security is nothing more than a giant
"Ponzi" scheme like that which put Bernie Madoff in prison. My financial experience will serve
me well with these kinds of problems.
We have to have a plan to "fund"
these unfunded liabilities and it will involve actually investing the
money that pours into Social Security and Medicare from now on and never
let politicians use that money again. You can use "zero" bonds
that mature far out in the future to guarantee that people will have
the money when they need it.
I used to do this all the time with my
Paine Webber clients to make sure, for example, that their young children
would be assured they have the money for college or that my clients
would have the necessary retirement money. Our government can do the
exact same thing. |
